sorry missed out the plan i chose for my project.

Peter Zumthor

thermal baths: Vals

I chose this plan as it represents Engineering in terms of linear shapes and geometry. It relates to my concept by being sophisticated but in the same time keeping it simple and moderate.

Attendance Sheet

Experiment 3 Submision

Exp Submission is on two pages please press at the bottom right corner (older post) if entire assignment is not available.

Exp3 Concept:

In our per-suite behind greatness and finding the Martians. A moment n time comes to hold us back and remind us of what we really are and what we essentially are. As Engineers we try to achieve the unachievable using the least amount of resources and material. In that struggle we aim to try to grasp "INTELLIGENCE" and "SIMPLICITY" combined with "RIGIDITY" in a highly "SOPHISTICATED" manner.

In my struggle to understand the essence of what a school of Engineering would require to adapt to itself and its nature I have journeyed amidst long roads that lead me to my project. In my project I wanted the engineering students to be comfortable in their surroundings but at the same time not excluded from academic staff and research facilities. As you can see from the pictures taken I have used lots of glass in the top two levels ( dean's floor and academic staff floor) as to put a seemingly unnoticeable boundary.

The structure is made of 4 levels. Lower Ground, Ground floor, Level 1 and level 2.

I have established these facilities in each level:

Lower Ground:
  1. Computer Labs (20 students/room) x2
  2. Reasearch spaces for Academic Staff x5
Ground Floor:
  1. Lecture Theatre (150 people) x1
  2. Studio Spaces (13 people/Studio) x7
  3. Office for General Staff (20 people/room) x2
  4. Gallery x1
  5. Student Meeting Rooms x2
  6. Library x1
Level 1:
  1. Student Studio Spaces (13 people/studio) x6
  2. Offices for academic staff (3 people/office) x6
  3. Offices for academic staff (2 people/office) x3
  4. Staff meting room x1
  5. Workshop (7-10 working benches) x1
Level 2:
  1. Office for accademic staff
    • Dean of Engineering x1
    • Vice Chancellor x1

Please see the following Floor plans for extra explanation.

CryEngine

The following are some pictures taken of the different parts of the exeriment in the Cryengine enviornment i have done based on Wadi Rum or the Valle of the Moon in Jordan.

First Draft Environment

Second and final Environment

Looking at the two elevators from the bottom of the valley

The Two elevators are connected two their own elevator stairs in which the student/Dean has to climb the stairs to get into the elevator.

Looking about dynamic shapes and flow of texture makes the scenery move

Wide Shots Showing how the Bridge fits in the valley

Unfortunately i could only use two textures as all the other textures Cryengine would not accept them and the surface would be invisible or tagged with Red Replace-Me boxes. Hope for your understanding. (Both of the textures are from the resonance group)

Cryengine Levels folder:

For Detailed Pictures Always Refer to Sketchup pictures as models in Cryengine usualy lose their tone of color or shape (compatability issues).

Thanks for the amazing semester, I appreciated your patience on me ! haha have a nice break Andrea
